THE DEAD P☆P STARS is formed by C.D.N KENchan.
Although the band's first album was distributed by a major label, they were not major at the time; they were an indie band through their own label, Anarchist Records, but received major distribution presumably due to the popularity of previous band KAMAITACHI (かまいたち).
When KAMAITACHI (かまいたち) disbanded in September 1991, drummer C.D.N KENchan allegedly promised “I'll be back with a motivated band. This isn't goodbye.” (気合いの入ったバンドで帰ってくる。さよならはいいません。). THE DEAD P☆P STARS is the fulfillment of that promise.
The band announces their formation with a conference at Shibuya (渋谷) F.F.D. They also announce the start of their own label, Anarchist Records.

Drummer C.D.N KENchan changes his name to KENZI.
