I couldn't find any info specifically on him in any band he has been in but since I don't think he said it in English, in Japanese it's either "yon" or "shi".
Yon would be the normal way to say it but seeing his dark aesthetic I wouldn't be surprised if he used "shi (四)" since it can be confused with the world "shi (死)" which means death.
that's just my opinion tho
That's also possible. Also you will notice that he went by Yonkiti in his last band, which by some chances can mean he used "#4" as for Yon.
But yeah Stella Maria were kote, so it's bit tricky to really know.
That's a good point that confirms yon.
Even tho yonkiTI isn't possible in Japanese since there's no "ti" only "chi" so he either used a random name he invented or it's a mistranslation and it's actually "yonkichi". In that case "kichi" means good luck, on the other hand yon only means 4.
I couldn't find if it's a mistranslation but in case it is then "four lucks" ? or "four fortunes" ?
maybe
I think "Yon" is the most plausible. While the 4 = death wordplay is very kote, Stella Maria was a bit too early for that posturing (imo they were more like early Luna Sea aesthetically and musically), and he already used that stage name before he started hanging out with everyone in that pre-La:Sadie's session.
Love this band!! Their one full album has become such a comfort album for me over the years, though I love bands with huge walls of sound and more raw edge as the next person, Lc5's music is just so pleasing and gives you a space for both quiet melancholy and kicking your feet in quotidian joy. Their mini documentaries are fun too, just a good time of a band. ₊˚⊹♡
no one will ever understand how much i love this band. my wall is covered in pages and posters from their magazines. every device i own is themed around them. each member is so talented and incredible. they are my biggest inspirations. i hope their music continues to bring joy to many more people ❤️
