L~CYFER (ルシファー) forms in Osaka (大阪)大阪.
The band forms with KAZUMI on vocals, but the rest of the initial lineup is unclear.
V. KAZUMI / (?)
By this time, vocalist KAZUMI has seceded and been replaced by AKIRA. It's unclear if any other member changes had occurred between formation and this resultant 5-member lineup.
(Note: This lineup comes from the demotape MASTER BATE・・・, which was recorded in April of some year. Visually, the DT looks as if it was probably the band's earliest; and as their activity during April 1997 is confirmed, the tape must have been released in 1996.)
V. AKIRA / G. TSUKASA / G. SHIZURU (静流) / B. KYOKA / D. HIRO
According to a flyer advertising the band's April~June 1997 lives, the band has four members at this time, indicating that bassist KYOKA had seceded sometime between April 1996 and April 1997—assuming we're correct in our assertion that MASTER BATE・・・ was released in 1996.
Also according to the flyer, the band joins the recently-formed MATINA around this time.
V. AKIRA / G. TSUKASA / G. SHIZURU (静流) / D. HIRO
According to a correction insert included with the June 1997 demotape MASQUERADE, guitarist TSUKASA secedes around this time—early enough that he doesn't participate in the late-May recording, but late enough that he's still mentioned in the jacket's credits.
(This may also be why the DT was reduced from 2 tracks as announced in their April~June 1997 flyer, to the 1 track that was actually produced.)
Guest guitar for the DT is instead performed by Yukina (雪那), and guest bass by HIBIKI—though the latter might have been supporting the band since KYOKA's secession.
V. AKIRA / G. SHIZURU (静流) / Guest G. Yukina (雪那) / Guest B. HIBIKI / D. HIRO
According to the same correction insert from MASQUERADE (and other online sources), an official disbandment live is scheduled for this date.
L~CYFER disbands (?)
During this month, the band records new [memorial?] demotape REQUIEM and participates in a [one-day revival?] live in celebration of the upcoming omnibus NEW AGE CULTURE, which they also appear on.
An article promoting that omnibus appears in the magazine Après Guerre and mentions that vocalist AKIRA is the only official member, with other positions being filled by guest musicians.
According to the liner notes for DT REQUIEM, the guest members are earlier members + KISAKI. Interestingly, TSUKASA (who had officially left the band around May) is listed as a guest musician, while SHIZURU (静流) (who had apparently not seceded) is not.
It's unclear if the group's June disbandment had been cancelled, or if the activities during this month were considered a limited revival.
