Around this time, classmates DEN, RYÖ, and SHO decide to form a band after being kicked out of high school due to having long hair.
While at a recording studio, the band meets drummer NAO, and he joins shortly after.
Threeman vs KAMAITACHI (かまいたち) and COLOR is held.
The band goes major through PONY CANYON.
Ryo, Den, and Nao announce that Sho is leaving the group—but Sho denies the announcement being true.
Sho officially announces his secession to pursue a solo career.
Sho secedes.
The band changes their name to ALZHEIMER.
BY-SEXUAL is dropped by PONY CANYON.
Nao announces his secession, due to his self-described feeling of holding back Ryo and Den, to pursue his dream of being a professional cook.
His last live is scheduled for a December date, but is cancelled due to a snow storm. As such, he postpones his secession.
Nao secedes.
Sakura (ex. L'arc~en~Ciel) joins.
BY-SEX disbands
BY-SEX reunites for the 2011 Rock the Chain festival.
BY-SEXUAL holds a benefit concert for Tohoku earthquake and tsunami victims at Shinagawa Stellar. This is the first time Sho performs since his secession.
Ryo and Sho perform an acoustic set of BY-SEXUAL songs at the 2014 Rock the Chain festival.
BY-SEXUAL reunites again for Day 1 of the Visual Japan Summit 2016.
One-day revival is held at the 2017 Rock the Chain festival.
The band's discography gets added to streaming services, making their material widely available to modern audiences.
BY-SEXUAL was a visual kei band in Tokyo. They were part of the okeshou kei subgenre. They were active from 1987 to 1999 and are now disbanded.
