VELVET ENDROIT (ヴェルベット・アンドロワ) forms in Tokyo (東京)東京.
There seems to be some disagreement about whether the band's name was pronounced or ベルベット・アンドロア [the very similar] ヴェルベット・アンドロワ. Details unclear.
The band's formation date is murky. Some sources state that they formed in 1988, but this is refuted by LES ENFANTS TERRIBLES (published February 1991) which states that they formed in September 1989. The 1988 date is also refuted by ROCK FILE VOL.8 (released March 1990), but that magazine confuses things further as it states that predecessor band REAL ATTACK was still active as of the magazine's publication date.
According to the 1991 magazine, the original bassist of REAL ATTACK seceded, and was replaced by ATSUSHI, and that is the point at which VELVET ENDROIT formed. But the 1990 magazine actually lists ATSUSHI as a member of the then-active REAL ATTACK.
The most likely explanation is that ATSUSHI joined in September 1989, and the band was planning at that time to continue as REAL ATTACK, but later in 1990 decided to become a new band instead, and retroactively changed their formation date to the month that ATSUSHI joined. But details are unconfirmed.
