The full music video of the debut single "Ryusei" by AYABIE is online, ahead of its release!
The producer of this music video is TEAMLAB, an ultra-technologists group made up of specialists such as programmers, robot engineers, mathematicians, architectures, Web designers, graphic designers, CG animators, editors etc.
TEAMLAB's film director, Minoru Terao says, "When I heard the song 'Ryusei,' images of lotus in the taste of 'Mahorobo' film came to my mind." (Mahorobo: a film made for celebrating the 1300th anniversary of Japan's old capital, Nara Heijo-kyo). He discussed the music video with his team and came up with ideas of AYABIE performing in front of an illusionary LED projecting the illusionary lotus stages and transferring the stages with the music regardless of chronological time-line. The head of TEAMLAB Toshiyuki Inoko further said, "After listening to and meeting AYABIE, I discussed with the film team to create a gorgeous world by developing on 'Kirigane (cut gold leaf)' style. We challenged this new style in our previous work which looks as if the world has been extracted out into animation from art of the Japanese Nara Period (AD 710 to 794) using jewels and seashells." By basing the film "Mahorobo" and "ICONO-NARASIA," inspired by the 1300 year old culture of the Nara Heijo-kyo, this is how TEAMLAB came to express AYABIE's dramatic sound and song with its oriental tone, with the lotus flowers under the moonlight as its motif. The music video also uses expressions inspired by the art technique "Kirigane" from the Asuka Period (AD 538 to 710), using silk texture in the background. Applying ancient expressions and materials with today's technology, the highly artistic collaboration between AYABIE and TEAMLAB has been accomplished. The CD art work of "Ryusei" was also created by TEAMLAB.
