All members of the band LIPHLICH and a staff member were tested positive and are currently undergoing medical treatment.

To get into grips on how this happened, this started on July 28th, when the band announced that one of their band members was diagnosed and confirmed to have Covid-19 on July 27th. This was the result of said band member having been complaining of fever and poor physical conditions and went to conduct a PCR test. The band and their staff members involved proceeded to go get a PCR test after a few of them have been in a poor physical condition as well.

The band have informed their fans that those who have attended the following venues on these dates have confirmed to not have been in close contact with anyone who has the coronavirus:

• July 16th - Takadanobaba AREA
• July 23rd - Nagoya ell.FITS ALL
• July 24th - Osaka RUIDO

Then, on July 30th, it was confirmed that everyone in the band and one staff member were confirmed to have been infected by Covid-19.

While most of them are undergoing medical treatment at home, vocalist Kuga Shingo (久我 新悟) suffered worse and is hospitalised to receive inpatient treatment.

If this news story sounds familiar to some of our readers, this is because so far LIPHLICH is confirmed to be the second known Visual Kei band where all of its members have been diagnosed and confirmed to be infected by Covid-19.

The first Visual Kei band to have such a dubious honour was from JACK CAPER (ジャックケイパー), where just about one year ago, on July 22nd, the band has announced that all of their members were infected by the virus. The band has since recovered from it and have set up videos and livestreams to talk of their experience of undergoing medical treatment and quarantine.

Although we now have vaccines to help us against Covid-19 and vaccination rates have increased, be aware that there are still many who have yet to be vaccinated and parts of Japan, especially Tokyo, are still under the State of Emergency. So do stay safe, stay at a safe distance, and wear a mask when out in public. And most importantly, if you are able to, go get registered and vaccinated.
