trf is formed by 小室哲哉, with the acronym standing for TK (his nickname) RAVE FACTORY

trf release their second single “EZ DO DANCE”, which becomes their first certified single, soon reaching triple platinum status.
The accompanying mini-album of the same name as “EZ DO DANCE” reaches number 4 on the Oricon charts, becoming their first top 10 release.
Their sixth single “survival dAnce ~no no cry more~” becomes their first major smash hit. It tops the Oricon charts, becomes the seventh best selling single of the year in Japan, and sells over a million copies.
The mini-album that contains “survival dAnce ~no no cry more~”, “BILLIONAIRE ~BOY MEETS GIRL~” (named after an equally successful single trf released that June) goes on to sell over a million copies, and becomes the sixth best selling album of the year in Japan.
trf release their third full length album “dAnce to positive”, which becomes their best-selling release to date. It goes on to sell over 2 million copies, becomes the second best selling album of the year in Japan and is one of the 50 best selling albums of all time in Japan.
trf slightly change their name to TRF.
Presumably due to the overwhelming success the other project of 小室哲哉 was having, globe, and possibly due to TRF’s dwindling sales, 小室哲哉 steps away from his role in TRF. The remaining members of TRF keep their band name and then collectively take control of their sound.
Seemingly due to further decreasing sales, TRF then goes on a hiatus
TRF somewhat return, but only play at the annual AVEX all-star event a-nation, which winds up being a mini-tour starting in 2002.
TRF announces its official reunion.
TRF play at that year’s a-nation event, and also do their first non a-nation event in 6 years, performing at the ALL TOYOTA BIG HOLIDAY event that October.
Vo. YŪKI changes her name to YU-KI.
TRF make a surprise release with “Where to begin”, which is their first original single release since 1999.
TRF release their seventh full length album “Lif-e-Motions”, which ends up being a moderate hit and reaching number 8 on the Oricon charts.
TRF is a semi-active non-vkei band. They have been active since 1992.
