Around this time, solo project MARIA (マリア) forms.
This was the first of several similar solo projects, units, and bands formed by vocalist MARIA (マリア). He is somewhat infamous for his rainbow-colored hair, unique vocals, and frequent street performances using only a karaoke machine and amplifier.
Due to his recognizable hairstyle, he's often colloquially referred to as RAINBOW HAIR MARIA (レインボーヘアーマリア) or simply RAINBOW MARIA (レインボーマリア). He sometimes refers to himself as MARIAsama (マリア様) or Chouzetsu MARIA (超絶マリア), and is known among Western visual kei fans as Maria Cross. He also has a similar-looking partner(?) who is referred to as KoMARIA (仔マリア).
Due to the number of projects that MARIA (マリア) has had over the years—many of which overlap in styles and time periods—the biography data here is not 100% accurate.
The earliest known MARIA (マリア) street live occurs around this time.

MARIA (マリア) pauses activity
Solo project MARIA (マリア) revives and possibly changes its name to Megami MARIA (女神マリア).
The activities of MARIA (マリア) after the March activity pause are unclear, as are the activities of CROSS (クロス) after their revival at that time. We can only assume that he did in fact pause his solo activities for the remainder of that year.
In 2016, MARIA (マリア) mentioned having entered his “tenth year of activity,” so it would seem that he considers 2006 to be when he officially started solo activity. Because his previous activity is confirmed, I'm assuming that 2006 saw some sort of revival.
The date that he started using the name Megami MARIA (女神マリア) is just as unclear, but 2006 at least saw usage of it on various websites. It would make sense for the new name to come about with a revival, but this is totally unconfirmed.
To confuse things further, his nationally-sold CDs from 2007 and 2008 only bear the name MARIA (マリア) despite the name Megami MARIA (女神マリア) definitely being in use by that time. Details are murky.
Limited-time alter-ego kote kei solo project KOTE MARIA (コテマリア) forms.
