Dainippon Onitanjigumi Akudoukai ni Senkyosare GOSSIP (大日本鬼端児組 悪童会に占拠され ゴシップ) disbands
Dainippon Onitanjigumi Akudoukai ni Senkyosare GOSSIP (大日本鬼端児組 悪童会に占拠され ゴシップ) was a visual kei band. They were part of the menhera kei and Showa kayou kei subgenres. They were active from 2014 to 2018 and are now disbanded.
Why is it that there are some bands out there with very similar names because there is another Vkei band called Gossip formed in the 2000s which is a Koteosa Kei band formed by a vocalist from Visage who also sang in Verxina I wonder why they used this name?
Like I only asked out of curiosity because I was 1st introduced to this Gossip before I heard of the other one and one of my friends likes the 2000s Gossip and I mentioned this one and mentioned this one has nothing to do with the other and he was like "Lol if I were Hiro I would beat up Saku for stealing the band name LOL" or sumthing IDK 😭
Realistically: I think the name fits the theme of most of their songs, plus since they were a gazette cover band, having a name like “gossip” to refer to a tabloid (to draw further parallels to the gazette) could have also been an avenue. However, having read all of our site's band interviews: it is super super common for bandmen to just be like “the word is an English one and it sounds cool” or “idk I like the name” when picking, then world building backwards from there.
Is this actually their full name? I'd say it would be similar to saying that NEGA's band name is ネガ 04200921580406177042. Anyway, I guess either way is fine. I'm not sure how to change it myself but 大日本 is always read Dai nippon/Dainippon btw.
IIRC they made a post about it when they changed their name and specified that, yes, it's their complete name, but you can still just pronounced it "Gossip." Or something like that.
