At 17 years old, Chitose Hajime (元ちとせ) wins the Amami Folk Song Award, becoming the youngest winner at the time.
Chitose Hajime (元ちとせ) becomes a major artist and signs to Epic Records.
Chitose Hajime (元ちとせ) releases her major debut with the release of the single "ワダツミの木", which is a ginormous success. It tops the Oricon charts and becomes the 3rd best selling single of the year, eventually being certified triple platinum.
Largely thanks to the huge success of "ワダツミの木", its accompanying album "ハイヌミカゼ" ends up being a great success in its own right, topping the Oricon charts and becoming the 16th best selling album of the year.
After nearly a decade on the label, Chitose Hajime (元ちとせ) leaves Epic Records and signs to Ariola.
