BUCK∞TICK is an active visual kei band in Gunma. They are part of the kurofuku kei, okeshou kei, and soft visual subgenres. They have been active since 1984.
I'm not an avid vkei listener but BUCK-TICK is the only vkei band that i listen to on the daily, my #1 band. Their music should be more recognised amongst international rock/pop fans as they take lots of inspiration from non-japanese artists. I think their music is the best in the entirety of the music industry but they never got the attention they deserve...
They've released music basically constantly for nearly 40 years, while also experimenting with each release, so their style is going to change depending on which album you try. So if someone's recs aren't to your liking, definitely keep trying more stuff!

i know right?! i'm pretty sure kyo from dir en grey said he wanted to be a bandman after seeing a photo of acchan <3 they've influenced a lot of artists like asagi, j, kyo, die, tatsuro, tsunehito, show ayanocozey, and the band deadman! (im pretty sure) there was also a special band/unit called "bluck-tlick" specially dedicated to making covers of buck-tick songs. the members were tatsuro, yuu, aie, lay, and tsuyoshi.

i love bucktick and all of their songs,, but its so hard to pick my favorite bt songs because theyre all so good, but I can name my top 5!!! which is... probably 'sapphire', 'iconoclasm' (taboo), 'DTD', 'sissy boy', 'love me', and a lot more,,,,,, i just love bt.... i love seventh heaven and just like all of the older albums in general.... bt is so epic..
i dont really know tbh but it may be related to change of vocalist (from acchan to imai & hidehiko) but also cause their visuals usually match their sound with shibuya hurry upper etc... they're old uncles
Fact : The first time was as a member of BUCK-TICK's predecessor band (Hinan GO-GO), when we performed at a music store in Gunma. At the time, we were covering songs by THE STALIN, but I didn't feel nervous or anything like that. Before I knew it, we were done (lol). That was during the band boom back then and Mentai rock and bands like THE MODS were popular so it felt as if everyone was covering those. At that gig, cover bands who covered THE MODS or HOUND DOG and all those were there too. So, right after the HOUND DOG cover band sang Namida no Birthday, you'd have us performing THE STALIN's Tenpura. It really was quite the event (lol). The audience were somehow mistaken for punks too because it looked like they were entirely made up of Keganin (怪我人, lit. injured person).

Recorded live at the Shinjuku Jam in Tokyo on Dec 4th, 1985 ("Beat For Beat Vol. 2"; "Beat For Beat" was the title of B-T's own series gigs in Tokyo area.) - The recording here is from their third show as Buck-Tick after renaming from 非難Go-Go (Hinan Go-Go) and the first ever show with their new lineup including Atsushi Sakurai on vocals and Yagami Toll on drums.
After 3 years of being a BUCK∞TICK fan, i can say that they're one of the most important bands in the genre. They're an absolute all time favorite of mine, it's the band that made me get more into Visual Kei. All of the lyrics are beautifully written, there isn't a single song of theirs that can be considered ''bad'' or ''repetitive. Even right now as they entered the SUBROSA era, their music still remains authentic, and i can't wait for more releases. BUCK∞TICK will always be my honmeiban no matter what. I really should get their merch and i plan to! Thank you Acchan for your wonderful melodies and your wonderful personality, we all miss you very much.
i will eternally be sad because i will never be able to hear Atsushi's voice at a live concert since i wasn't even born in their prime. But i still enjoy BUCK-TICK's music everyday and i believe more people should know about them and listen to them!! If you enjoy their music keep in mind you have absolute great taste!
I wonder if it's a universal thing or just me but I cry each time I hear "dress" or see a picture of Atsushi I miss him so much (it kills me knowing I wont be able to witness him singing live)
god damn i love buck tick, their music soothes me like nothing else. i could lecture people about them for all eternity. im listening to "AI NO UTA" from the mona lisa overdrive album as im writing this. this clearly shows my dedication. everytime i hear a nanosecond of their music i start foaming from the mouth, and the members are so awesome, everytime i catch a glimpse of a band image of buck tick i start squealing and curling my feet. also dont get me started on hidehiko hoshino because GAH DAMNNNNUUHHH!!!!! hes so cool, i genuinely need new music to obsess over that isn't just buck tick. this isn't even funny. i first discovered them on march 1st, 2024. i haven't been the same since. ever since that fateful day, i have been unable to stop listening to this band. i think of them every waking hour. they're constantly showing up in my dreams. i can't escape buck tick. their music just seems to resonate with my soul unlike how any other band could. their music is truly one of a kind. play even just a split second of one of their songs, and I guarantee I'll instantly know who it's by. thats just how much I love them. everything in my life has become a buck tick reference. I can't escape buck tick. theyre everywhere I go. If you think you want to get to know me, think otherwise. my buck tick obsession is too strong.
I got into Buck-Tick way too late. I admittedly only discovered them thanks to the anime Shiki using their song “くちづけ” as the intro. I was absolutely devastated when I found out Astushi had already passed. I'm thankful for all of his work and his beautiful words that he had chose to share with us all.♡
Sakurai's ability to connect his fans through his lyrics and great performances is truly beautiful. His music has inspired countless of fans and aspiring musicians. He have been a big part of the visual kei community, it is still very depressing that he is no longer with us.

I will always remember Atsushi as a legend, his style, voice and his contribution to Dark wave to give way to the visual kei influences were something that we will never forget. I love every single Buck Tick song, I'll never forget any of them. I love them.
Rest in peace, Acchan. You left your soul on stage, you fulfilled your dreams and made us happy, thank you very much.
