LUNA SEA drummer Shinya (真矢) has announced that he is in treatment for a brain tumor.

According to his statement, Shinya (真矢) was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in 2020, and had been through several rounds of treatment, but continued performing until the band's tour final in February. However, he recently collapsed due to dizziness, and upon an MRI scan was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

He is scheduled to undergo radiation therapy, but has opted not to try to perform live this time (although he is still planning to appear in wheelchair at a hometown festival on September 27 and 28). LUNATIC FEST. 2025 is still moving ahead, and he has asked Junji (淳士) of SIAM SHADE to act as support drummer for the live.

Shinya (真矢) had this to say: “Until the day comes when I can return to the stage, I promise to never die and never lose hope. I hope to see you all again with a smile on my face.” Full statements have been posted on X:
