A new session band has, Hueye (simply referred to as SeaMan), has formed.
While I do not tend to follow session bands all that closely, this particular caught my eye because Majyu (former drummer of E'm ~grief~ and DEVIL KITTY) is a member. They do not have an official Twitter account, nor home page, but each of the members do push their upcoming live schedules pretty hard. If you're interested in my latest vkei-sleuthing, keep on reading~
SeaMan formed on October 25th and has since performed 13 times as of when this article was being written. They are currently on a 5-major-city-tour, which will take them to Sapporo, Sendai, Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka. From what I can tell, this session seems to be loosely associated with Punch Records, and due to their fairly aggressive tour schedule for not-even-a-real-band, I am wondering if they will eventually make their relationship Facebook-official in the coming year.
Vocals: On vocals is a guy who goes by Nao. I scrolled through his Twitter and couldn't exactly figure out who he was, but he seems to be fairly well-known in the Tokyo-based scene as some sort of visual personality, I guess (???). He's been in a lot of session bands, all with fairly established indie bandmen. At one point he was in a session that performed all MEJIBRAY covers, then was in a Janne Da Arc cover session with a Scarlet Valse member, and then later was in a special session with a member from DADAROMA. The last group he was a part of was a session with two guys from Mamireta (まみれた) and a KRAD member (hence my Punch Records comment earlier). If anyone has any info about Nao, it would be greatly appreciated.
Guitar: On guitar is Nagi (ナギ).
He does not appear to have any official band history As Suji pointed out, he is ex-Jils Blue Roses, but he also seems to be the guy people call in when shit goes bad and they need a guitarist right before breaking up. He's done this for VIVALET, Mediena (メディーナ), and The 3rd Birthday.
Bass: Their bassist goes by ShuN. ShuN was in a band called Mummy and ZAKLIA, and eventually he became a part of the VAMPIRE ROSE entourage for a bit. He also has a Spongebob screenshot as his Twitter banner, so I like him.
Drums: Majyu. He's been in literally 1,000,000 bands and is another Punch Records connection. He's been tweeting live videos of himself drumming and has made comments about returning to music after deciding he wasn't going to (I guess this means DK is officially done??).
While I think it would be cool if Hueye turns into a real band at some point, especially for this "I knew them when they started!" moment, it's hard to say if they ever will. Putting all of this together was fun though, especially finding all of the dry-erase board photos that refer to them as "Fish-man (魚男)."
