B.P. RECORDS crowd sourcing campaigns. Everyone gets a campaign!

With COVID-19 forcing most bands across Japan (and the world) to cancel live events, B.P.RECORDS has launched crowd sourcing campaigns for their artists to fund the filming of their tour finales that had to be canceled due to the pandemic.

There's already a post update for Kiryu (己龍) which launched their campaign on May 2nd and met their goal on the first day! Congrats y'all 🎉

Yet Kiryu is not the only band to currently have an active campaign. Royz currently has a campaign live and is a little over halfway funded and BabyKingdom has also launched their campaign which is just now just about halfway funded. CODOMO DRAGON (コドモドラゴン) has one pending to go live on May 28th* (the translation is not clear to me, please correct if I'm mistaken)

Each campaign for the most part have similar rewards until you start getting into the more expensive tiers. All campaigns start at 6,000 yen and comes with a DVD and special bracelet, which is about the normal price for a live DVD. The DVD will not be made widely available and only sent to those that back the campaign. Further tiers start to include cheki, special thanks in the booklet and credit role, offshoot DVDs and multi-angle DVDs.

Yet this is where things start to deviate depending on the band.

Lets start with Royz which has the most interesting rewards out of all four bands.

The higher tiers starting at 100,000 yen includes a signed cheki and a date simulator DVD-R which is personalized as you can provide the name you wish the members to refer you by. If only I had 100,000 yen to make Royz members pretend to be on a date with SATAN.

The 300,000 yen tier includes the date simulator DVD but also five tickets which you can redeem at any live and a 1 hour skype session with a member of your choice.

There are two 500,000 tier includes all of the above except the date simulator. One reward is to talk with a member of your choice over Line for a week. The other 500,000 tier reward is not very clear to me, it sounds there will be a special filming possibly related to their YouTube channel? Which you will receive a special DVD-R of, in addition you can participate in the filming (?) with the band after COVID-19 restrictions have passed.

Finally the highest most insane tier at 1,000,000 is all the rewards, a DVD, chekis, multi-angle DVD, signed cheki, date simulator, Line chat, Skype session, free five lives is also a trip to Disneyland with a member of your choice! In which you exchange rings with a member at the Disney castle? What? That's a thing!? I never been to Disneyland but whew that would be an insane way to spend the day there.

BabyKingdom rewards contain all the usual rewards until you reach the 30,000 tier. Starting here you will receive a special DVD called BabyKing House special edition DVD. The contents of the DVD aren't detailed but likely something related to their YouTube channel with the same name. The 50,000 tier includes all the same awards but also a multi-angle live DVD of a member of your choice.

At 100,000 yen there are two tiers, both of which includes all of the previous rewards. One will contain a special comment DVD-R with the band personalized to you. The other includes a personalized untitled song sung with your name in it. Whew the temptation to make BabyKingdom sing about SATAN for 100,000 yen??? Ahh!!

At 500,000 yen you get all the previous stuff, including the special song and special DVD-R. You receive a free ticket to the one-man fan club event but also requires you be a member to use it (my translations might be incorrect) and finally a song the bands will create based on a theme you specify (can it be about SATAN???).

Finally at 1,000,000 yen you get all the previous rewards but also your own MV based on the song they create for you and a personal thank you letter from the band. So an MV and a song about SATAN???? Cool!

CODOMO DRAGON's rewards are all pretty similar to the rewards the other bands until we reach the 100,000 tier. At 100,000 yen you will receive a personalized comment DVD from a member of your choice and a 10 minute call from a member of your choice, which will be filmed and provided to you as a DVD-R. Also you get a cool T-shirt.

The 500,000 yen tier is a little more fun. You receive all the previous rewards but in addition you get to make your own advertising poster design and t-shirt design in which the members will wear when filming videos for their YouTube channel. So you can make them wear a shirt that says HELL YAH SATAN??? Cool!!!

Finally at 1,000,000 yen you will receive all the prior rewards but also your own original CM which will be used on their YouTube channel for three months.

Anyway that's it for now! There are other bands with campaigns launched or will be launching to help fund activities due to loss of income having to cancel their lives. D is also doing a support campaign to help keep live houses afloat during this pandemic. Without getting into too much doom and gloom the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting not just Japan but much of the world and it is no surprise that there bands are struggling during all of this and trying to find creative ways to stay afloat. Hopefully B.P.Records and others ride out this pandemic.

Feel free to correct any shoddy mistakes I made in my translations. One of the Royz rewards is not very clear to me but I think it might have to do with their YouTube channel? I don't really follow Royz so I don't know if that's a reference to their fanclub or their YouTube channel or something else? I would have been lost on BabyKing reward if I didn't know that was the name of their YouTube channel.

@witchthrone Good job with this! It's still bizarre to me that BP of all people would need crowd funding for this type of item, but I guess they're the only label popular enough to pull it off right now. I also find it interesting how the bands have completely different monetary goals based on their popularity, even though the end product is the same.

The Royz BUSAIKU thing might be them doing a skit or comment as “ugly” characters? Seems to be what BUSAIKU refers to these days.

Oh, I also noticed that each band will release a new song CD (presumably to backers) if they meet their stretch goal.

Oh you're right! I totally left that out!

I agree about B.P. but I guess the loss of income from ticket and merch sales might have been hard for the label. I believe most instore events also had to be canceled which may have affected CD sales too. The rewards are funny depending on which band and by that I mostly mean Royz. I think the personalized live DVD tiers Kiryu will do for you is really cool but I don't have that kinda money to make them play Irodori over and over and over and over lmao.
