Yumu (憂夢) (ユム) forms in Niigata (新潟)新潟.
The band is formed by guitarist Taropon (たろぽん) and bassist Asuka (あすか) following the disbandment of their previous group.

Yumu (憂夢) changes its name to SYNTHETIC MUSHROOMS (シンセティック・マッシュルーム), and the members then start going by their full names.

SYNTHETIC MUSHROOMS become a part of the Break Out series/label, along with later popular visual bands like SHAZNA, PIERROT and Lastier.
Drummer Manabu Sakai (酒井学) leaves and is then replaced by Tsuneyuki Terasaki (寺崎経幸).
Bassist Asuka Masuoka (正岡明日香) leaves.
Bassist Hayato Kamimura (上村隼斗) officially joins.

After a brief hiatus, vocalist Yuki Matsunaga (松永和有希) announces he has been diagnosed with a vocal chord polyp and leaves the group. It is then announced that vocalist Kazuhiro Maruyama (丸山和弘) has joined.
SYNTHETIC MUSHROOMS play their first live with Kazuhiro Maruyama (丸山和弘) at the Niigata JUNK MINI venue.

SYNTHETIC MUSHROOMS was a visual kei band in Niigata. They were active from 1993 to 2001 and are now disbanded.
